BEIJBOM KRONER BIG BAND
- the band that IS the difference -
was founded in 1994 by Swedish drummer, composer and arranger Lars Beijbom and Danish trombonist, composer and arranger Erling Kroner as a personal alternative to the myriad of pro- and semi-pro big bands in existence, worldwide.
with the feet solidly in the tradition
- reaching for the sky!
With this abundance of big bands worldwide, why, then, yet another big band?
Because:
BEIJBOM KRONER BIG BAND, as the name indicates, reflects the musical visions of the two bandleaders / composers / arrangers, s'far as concerns the
choice of musicians, everyone hand-picked among the leading jazz-soloists
in the Copenhagen, Denmark and Malmö / Lund, Sweden area, the
repertoire, which is an exciting amalgam of Beijbom's and Kroner's compositions and arrangements:
Piazzolla meets Mingus meets Brecker Bros. meet Ellington meets Lennon meets Gil Evans
From USA to Argentina from Africa to Brazil
from Europe to . . . . the World!
BEIJBOM KRONER BIG BAND was the logical conclusion of a meeting that took place in Boston, Ma. at the famed BERKLEE COLLEGE OF MUSIC in 1973, which resulted in more than 20 years of working together in various contexts, from Beijbom's Small Potatoes and White Orange, to Kroner's Tentet, Quintet and Dark Side Orchestra. . . . . .
